Solar Power

The electrical power for the farm is provided by a 30 kW solar power supply located on the farm house roof.

The solar power has 60 kWh of battery storage and excess energy feeds back into the grid.

‘If we lived to be 380 years old, we would never pay back our solar investment but that’s not why we did it.’

As a fail-safe back-up, if there is a sustained power outage and no sun during a prolonged winter storm, a 30 kVA Kubota diesel generator provides emergency power supply back.
